Video: Sweet Potato, Apple and Cucumber Juice Smoothie

My dear brothers and sisters,

Who would have ever thought of juicing a sweet potato? Actually, its juice is a delight. Along with a  sweet potato we do an apple and a cucumber-the resultant juice is so vital. We then  add frozen bananas and a heaping tablespoon of our almond butter to make a smoothie brimming with nutrients. Imagine starting your day with a sweet potato, apple, cucumber, almond butter smoothie!

On sale this week are our Khadrawy dates. Our pleasure to offer a $2 discount. We suggest you try some and meditate on how sweet this world could be.

Ben with GrowVeg, our favorite gardener, takes us on a tour of his lettuce patch. Lettuce is an outstanding cool weather crop. But it should have been planted in late summer. You can still plant it now but you’ll need a cold cover or green house. The main varities-butterhead, Romaine and looseleaf encompass such an array of colors, shapes and textures. For magnificent heirloom varieties we recommend Pinetree Garden Seeds, Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds and the Seed Savers Exchange.

Our  Victory Garden Sale, this month, includes Cashew Butter, Tumeric and Honey Butter and Tomatoes-Dried and Organic. We offer these at a 10% discount.

Then the Millennial Gardener exhorts us to plant fruit trees now instead of waiting till late Winter or early Spring. By planting deciduous fruit trees  4 to 6 months ahead of the Spring season you actually get an entire year’s worth of establishment.

Ben, our favorite gardener, explains why pollination is so important; this is all the more poignant when bees are so threatened by chemical farming. He  urges us to plant flowers through our gardens that will attract these wonderful pollinators.

Dr. Anthony Balduzzi, with the Fit Father Project guides us in 6 essential exercises for men. This rings true when you consider that over 100 million Americans are obese.

Please accept our best wishes  for good health and vitality, to you and family,
