Video: Hug the Earth and Plan Your Victory Garden

Dear brothers and sisters,

You have come to a magnificent realization of the aliveness of the food you eat. But its time to come to a broader understanding:- that the economy too is a living thing. It has a pulse, a metabolism and a circulation. Its life blood is the circulation of commodities. Each day an  tidal wave of commodities circulates.

Then there are specialized organs such the factory where commodities are produced by means of commodities, there are other organs such as  the banking system and the stock market which facilitate production and growth and there is the monetary system which facilitates circulation.

The whole is enlivened by the focused energy of 160 million working Americans.

This living thing has cycles and rhythms. It even has convulsions. Within in the last few days we’ve  heard the headlines reverberate- the largest trade deficit ever and the highest inflation in 40 years roaring along at 7.5%.

Could this be a portend of a coming crisis?

We say, brothers and sisters- hug the earth. It will sustain you. Plan that  Victory Garden. Get your tomatoes and peppers going indoors or in a greenhouse. Start that lettuce, kale and Swiss chard.

Get together with friends and get that community garden off to a good start. And what about that edible schoolyard? Or the public park transformed into an edible landscape. It is all possible.

Build it right here! An edible schoolyard for the American spirit.

May we wish you and family, good health ,prosperity and success.
