Video: Metaverse Man vs. Jeffersonian American

Dear brothers and sisters,

Facebook’s squandering of billions of dollars, thousands of workers and years of effort to build a high-tech, artificially intelligent virtual reality is an affront to 245 years of American history. Millions of hours of human labor, tragically enough, are being devoted to a system where people exist in immersive, virtual and shared spaces—they call it a “metaverse”. It represents a digital reality where people through an icon or a graphical representation of themselves, called an “avatar” would be able to enter offices, attend meetings, attend concerts with friends or try on clothes in stores, just as they would out in the real world. To access this garden of  delights  one would have to wear a virtual reality headset while  being glued to a computer screen.

In place of this lunarscape there could be community gardens, edible landscapes, edible schoolyards and family farms. Its a matter of reclaiming our American heritage.

Let us close with the words of Thomas Jefferson:

…cultivators of the earth are the most valuable citizens. they are the most vigorous, the most independent, the most virtuous, & they are tied to their country & wedded to it’s liberty & interests by the most lasting bands.

With wishes of vibrant good heath to you and family,
