Video: We Talk with Dave Chapman on Challenges to Organic

Brothers and sisters,

We are privileged to interview Dave Chapman. He farms organic tomatoes in Vermont. He co-founded the Real Organic  Project. This is a grass roots coalition dedicated to preserving the integrity of organic produce. It seems that the challenges are unending as corporate agriculture moves in. Consider, for example, those “organic” strawberries, black berries and raspberries that have been available all winter long. They  are grown hydroponically, that is, without soil. A fundament of regenerative agriculture, the building up of the fertility of the soil has been sidestepped. And yet, those berries, grown in chemical soup, are certified organic.

That the Real Organic Project now encompasses over 1000 farms is a tribute to the life at the grass roots and Dave Chapman’s dedication and devotion.

Next, Tracy Kozlowski takes us on a tour of the White Mountain Community Garden in Show Low, Arizona. We are impressed that there is a separate garden for children. There are also raised growing beds so people with disabilities and seniors can readily participate. For us the high point is when Tracy exclaims how different a tomato you've grown yourself is from the store bought variety.

Next, Karen a medical student and personal trainer guides  us delightfully in making a Moist Vegan Banana Bread.

Our popular Walnut Nut Butter 16oz is on sale this week. Regularly $24.99 now $19.99.

We follow with a magnificent video of the forgotten voyage of Alfred Russel Wallace. He was a profound student of the natural realm. Charles Darwin credited him as the co-discoverer of evolution. Yet Wallace’s view was fundamentally different. Instead of seeing it as a mechanistic phenomena of random variation and natural selection Wallace conceived of evolution as  guided and encompassed by a higher purpose and goal.

We conclude with Lauren taking  us along on a 30 minute Walking Workout for Beginners and Seniors.

May we wish you and family a vital springtime of good health, prosperity and success,
