Video: Strawberry, Kiwi, Mango Nice Cream - Alive & Organic

My dear brothers and sisters,

With our 250th anniversary right around the corner, I would like to say a few words about ourselves. What have we become? Where are we going?

Let’s begin by taking a look at ourselves. We are compelled to ask, “has there ever been a nation whose people are so isolated and distant?”

Everything is reduced to exchange. Commodities cast the long shadows. "social distancing” did not appear with covid. We’ve always had it. It is so American.

We pay a fearful price for loneliness. Consider obesity. There is no doubt that ultra processed food is a leading cause. But what motivates people to stuff themselves with it? I maintain that obesity is an outgrowth of the all pervasive loneliness. Bloating does not just happen. It happens over months; it becomes all too apparent yet they persist, feeding the bottomless pit of loneliness.

Think of it! More than 100 million adults are obese, and more than 22 million adults are severely obese. In all of human history there has been nothing like it.

As if this was not bad enough think for a moment what's happening to children. Ultra processed food has found its way into school lunches. We marvel at the arrogance of major food companies. It seems that they do not hesitate to foist their ultra processed foods onto young children. Nearly 20% of children are obese, a rate nearly 4 times what it was in the 1970s.

In the face of this tragedy we would like to suggest a new national holiday. A day of fasting. A day of contrition... a day of introspection.

It may seem strange to talk about fasting when the fruits of summer abound, but 100 million obese Americans demand that we stop and take stock.

Please accept our best wishes to you and family for good health, prosperity and success,

Videos This Week

We celebrate aliveness, with a strawberry, blueberry, kiwi, mango nice cream. We put a frozen banana, through our juicer followed by strawberries and blueberries. We add our almond butter and walnut butter for depth of flavor and top things off with an avocado and a mango. Here is a nice cream beyond anything that can be purchased off a shelf. Brothers and sisters what marvels you will make!

Next Ben, our favorite Gardener, tells us what to do if our tomato plants are not fruiting. As usual he is exuberant with the joy of growing living things.

He begins by pointing out how other fruits like zucchini produce separate, male and female flowers. Tomato plants, however, produce flowers with both male and female parts. Who would've imagined that the buzz of bubble bees aids pollination-when they visit a flower, the vibration of their wings shakes pollen from the male parts onto female stigma. One can also try pollinating by hand-simply shake the blossoms or tap on the plant supports to shake the pollen free.

He goes on to talk bout the importance of providing at least lest 6 hours of sunlight, proper humidity and avoiding excessive heat. Next we celebrate a 9 foot tall perennial sunflower; Helianthus tuberosus is its name or simply “sunchoke”. It produces from 3 to 6 pounds of magnificent tubers from each plant. It is much more productive than a potato and far more more resilient and disease resistant. The tubers are delightful sliced, thinly into salads, steamed or baked. They are so easy to grow. Every backyard garden should feature them.
