Hetch Hetchy and Redemption
Yosemite is one of the most beautiful valleys. Millions of tourists visit each year to exalt in its majestic beauty. But few know that there is a comparable valley, just 20 miles to the north; it is called Hetch Hetchy. Around the turn of the previous century, it was dammed to provide water for San Francisco.The valley is now  submerged under hundreds of feet of water.

John Muir, the great naturalist, fought zealously to preserve the valley; it was his last struggle.
One day, we are convinced Hetch Hetchy will be restored. One day, the dam will be removed, the waters will drain and the meadows and forests will come back. But this will more than just a triumph of ecology; it will mark, in our opinion, the healing of our people and the redemption of this great land.
