Video: Out of Winter Depths: A Green Drink, Vibrantly Alive

My dear brothers and sisters,

I participated in the raw food movement almost from its beginnings. I observed its growth, its heyday and what appears to be its demise. The plethora of raw food restaurants both here in the Bay Area and in Los Angeles has greatly diminished; but a handful survive. Seminars, colloquiums and gatherings have largely become things of the past. However the web is replete with raw food recipes and there are magnificent videos on YouTube for no-bake versions of carrot cake and even apple pie. There is no doubt but that the raw food movement has left a living legacy; it has helped so many re-create their diets and become more vibrantly alive. Choosing a live food diet is a powerful preventive measure; prevention, let us agree, is  much more valuable than treatment.

One living legacy of the raw food movement are Green Drinks. In my experience, no food is more healing than a green drink of kale, lettuce, Swiss chard and parsley blended into a smoothie. Finely divided greens are  immensely healing.
Please then watch the video; out of the depths of winter- we celebrate aliveness.

She tells us, “The trend is driven, in part, by the impacts of exposure to toxic chemicals, as well as lifestyle factors such as smoking and obesity.”

‘Remarkable’ Declines in Fertility, Sperm Counts Worldwide Linked to Industrial Chemicals

By Shannon Kelleher

Health researchers from around the world are sounding an alarm on a persistent drop in fertility rates, pointing to environmental pollutants among a wide range of factors that they argue need to be urgently addressed in a paper published Wednesday.

Both male and female reproductive health is deteriorating, especially in industrialized regions, suggesting important roles of environmental factors, such as endocrine-disrupting chemicals and pesticides, the authors of the paper state.

Studies indicate that the global fertility rate is dropping, with 93% of all countries worldwide expected to dip below levels necessary to keep populations from shrinking by 2100.

The trend is driven, in part, by the impacts of exposure to toxic chemicals, as well as lifestyle factors such as smoking and obesity, according to the 11 researchers authoring the paper, which was published in the journal Human Reproduction Update.
