Video: Living Tree Alive, Organic Almond Butter: A Family Farming Treasure

My dear brothers and sisters,

We begin with some thoughts on our alive, organic walnut butter. It is a treasure of family farming. It is produced from walnuts grown by Jeff Ferrari a California family farmer. With some 30,000 trees, he produces 600,000 pounds of walnut meats each year. Here in Berkeley we transform them in to alive, organic walnut butter. It goes so well as a topping on puddings and desserts. Imagine it on apple or bread slices!

Your Garden in April
Ben, our favorite gardener exclaims, “Spring is a time of magical transformation…!” He begins with comfrey and  then goes on to potatoes which he plants both in containers and then a garden bed. His enthusiasm is electric as he sets out tomatoes, peas and fava beans. Let’s emulate him as we plant our Victory Gardens.

These magnificent pistachios are grown by Joseph Byrne, a California family farmer. He tells us, "I have been raising organic pistachios for over 40 years, this is the most beautiful crop we've ever gotten”.

It is almost fun to open the split shells; ask your kids to do it. If you want, put the meats in a coffee grinder and sprinkle the resultant golden powder over everything you eat.
