Video: Let’s Learn from Bitcoin Mania

Dear brothers and sisters,

On Tuesday Nov 28th the price of digital currency bitcoin reached $10,000 an increase of over 1000% since the start of the year when it was valued at $900. But this was nothing. Eight days later, on December 7th,it jumped 40% in 40 hours, surging past $16,000.That brought bitcoin’s year to date gain to be 1,560%. People are putting money in simply because they think other people are going to put in money. This is the largest financial bubble in modern economic history. It puts the Tulip Mania of the 17th century to shame.

It will impact on all of our lives.Let’s try to understand its meaning and significance.

With best wishes for vibrant good health to you and family,

Recipe: Fig Halvah (Sesame) Smoothie

by Master Live Food Chef Barbara Kessler of Rawfully Tempting

“Open sesame”—the famous phrase from the Arabian Nights—reflects the distinguishing feature of the sesame seed pod, which bursts open when it reaches maturity.

Growing up, Halvah, (a ground sesame paste, fudge-like snack), was a huge treat in our household, and I’ve always loved the flavor and consistency. This smoothie is very reminiscent of my favorite childhood treat.

Sesame Seed has a delicate, nutty flavor and is one of the oldest oilseed crops known. It was domesticated over 3000 years ago. Sesame oil and Tahini Butter are the most popular products made from the sesame seed.

Fig Halvah Smoothie Ingredients
1 young Thai Coconut – water and meat ( or almond milk instead of water)
2 cups water (or water kefir, as needed)
2 bananas, frozen
3 – 4 kale leaves, or other greens
3 Tablespoons chia seeds
2 Tablespoons tahini butter
3 Tablespoons sesame seeds (raw)
4 Smyrna figs (or medjool dates or Smyrna figs)
1 1/2 Tablespoons cacao powder (or carob powder)
2 teaspoons maca powder (totally optional)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (3 drops Medicine Flower Vanilla Extract)
ice as needed while blending

Featured Item: Olio Nuovo Olive Oil – Alive, Organic & Dry Farmed

Olive oil aficionados! This is the moment you’ve been waiting for all year!
Olio nuovo is here! The first expression of the olive harvest! The first pressing! The ultra-green first bottling of the new crop! Skimmed from the vat before the sediment has settled,
olio nuovo has a creamy texture and heightened notes of fruit, grass and pepper.

Olio nuovo is a fleeting ritual, best savored within a few weeks of its release.

Rejoice in its glorious plume of particulate matter!
Made from Mission olives, the only olive native to America. (All other olive oils are made from olives originating in Italy, Spain and the Middle East or North Africa.) Its polyphenol content rated at 383 ppm(parts per million) is well above the 222 average for most extra virgin olive oils. Its stability is very good with a shelf life of 18 months. This is a very desirable oil.

Olio Nuovo is robust. Rather than being grassy and green, it has a rounded fruitfulness. It will bring an interesting flavor to your holiday table: a rounded flavor profile, nicely balanced. Created by Darro Grieco, family farmer and award winning grower. He is master of the historic Berkeley Olive Grove, created in 1913 by UC Berkeley professors who wanted to create the perfect olive grove (Located about 100 miles east of Berkeley). Its is telling that they chose Mission olive trees. They were brought to California by the Spanish missions in the late 1700s. They have been included in the Ark of Taste, an international catalog of endangered heritage foods.

Almond Butter 8oz – Alive & Organic

We began making almond butter over 25 years ago. Over the years, we have developed a proprietary process: we make the almond butter slowly, over several days. We slice the almonds and never grind them, which exposes the nut to the least heat possible to keep the flavors and properties of the raw nut intact. We make it frequently, in small batches, so it’s fresh and alive.

Coconut Butter – Alive & Organic

Our alive coconut butter is created from alive coconut. Savor its fragrance. Ponder its texture.

Cashew Butter 8oz – Alive & Organic

Sundried cashews have been transformed into a butter that retains its quintessential cashew flavor. Try it on apple slices, celery sticks or a wedge of persimmon.

White Kiawe Blossom Hawaiian Honey – Alive and Organic

Our rare, certified organic Kiawe Blossom Honey is gathered from an isolated Kiawe forest on the island of Hawaii. The deep tap roots of the Kiawe trees have reached an underground aquifer of fresh water that flows down from the volcanoes. This forest is in a desert and no other vegetation has tapped the aquifer, allowing the bees to collect Kiawe nectar of exceptional purity and quality.
